Foun de d on April 9, 1889, BCP is Peru's ol de st bank. It was called Banco Italiano for the first 52 years of its existence, and in 1919 Banca Commerciale Italiana acquired the bank. On 1 February 1942, the name of the institution was changed to Banco de Credito de l Peru.
